Peer Review Process

All publications will be reviewed by at least two referees that are active researchers in the field of study. Authors are responsible for nominating at least three suitable referees, that are not closely related to the authors.

The editor will normally base the final decision on the less favorable referee report, unless the report is not scientifically sound.

Publication Frequency

Manuscripts are published online as soon as the proofs were approved.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

About the journal

The South African Journal of Chemistry, published by the South African Chemical Institute, has been publishing high quality papers, in all fields of Chemistry since 1918. The Journal went fully electronic in 2000. It is open access and freely available online.

SAJChem applies the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license to manuscripts we publish. This license was developed to facilitate open access – namely, free immediate access to, and unrestricted reuse of, original works of all types. Anyone may copy, distribute or reuse these articles, as long as the author and original source are properly cited. Additionally, the journal platform that SAJChem uses to publish research articles is Open Access. We are registered with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and Scientific Library Online (Scielo).

It is a CAS-abstracted publication and is listed in Current Web Contents, Web of Knowledge, etc. It is an accredited publication with the South African Department of Higher Education and Training.

ORCIDs: From April 2017, published manuscripts will be linked to the ORCIDs of the authors. We are also working towards rewarding referees via the ORCID system for review work performed.
